Role of the Children's Advocate
An independent officer of the legislative assembly, the Children’s Advocate is responsible for representing the rights, interests and viewpoints of children receiving, or entitled to receive, child welfare services. This presentation includes a discussion of the work of the Children’s Advocate, provides an update on the ongoing developments and anticipated changes to the office, and most importantly, address the dire situation that Manitoba’s Aboriginal children continue to experience notwithstanding a system of law committed to acting in their best interests.
