Reforms to Transportation Offences and Drug-Impaired Driving Offences
November 22, 2018
The impending legalization of marijuana under the federal Cannabis Act has prompted extensive changes to the transportation provisions of the Criminal Code. This program will focus primarily on the federal Bill C-46 amendments to the Criminal Code sections relating to drug-impaired driving, including what level of blood drug concentration (or drug and alcohol combined) constitutes impairment, how police will test for impairment and the penalties for drug-impaired drivers. The program will also touch upon changes to traffic-related provisions in provincial legislation under The Cannabis Harm Prevention Act.
