Limited Scope Retainers: Tips and Traps
September 30, 2014
Limited scope retainers (aka "unbundling") are growing in popularity with clients as they look for ways to access legal services while reducing their costs. In a limited scope retainer the client retains the lawyer for only certain aspects of a legal matter. The client then maintains responsibility for the remainder of the matter. Does that sound appealing or a little scary? Either way you are correct!
These limited scope retainers are an opportunity to improve the public's access to justice and to increase your client base. However, there are risk management and ethical issues to consider.
This webinar will provide you with guidance on how to provide this limited service while still ensuring that you do so safely and ethically. The presenters will provide you with the information you need to determine if and how you can use limited scope retainers in your practice.
